This blogger is an accidental celebrity :
( find miracle in his pics )
For those of you who haven't had a reason to smile recently, just Google the name 'Govind Tiwari' and the website will keep you glued to your screens for several rib-tickling minutes.
The 19-year-old who literally blinks his eyes on http://www.govindtiwari.blogspot/.com has become such a virtual rage on the Internet this week that his blog crashed twice. He had to change the bandwidth to allow his fans to follow him without interruptions. MiD DAY spoke to Tiwari, a resident of Phaphamau, nearly 15 km from Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh.
Why? This blog. A funky, retro site that is struggling to keep up with the traffic that’s landing on the page, complete with coloured animation and blinking graphics. But who is Govind Tiwari? (From Allahadbad as his blog proudly tells us) He is either a brilliant marketing idea or some white hat spoof (I had a few warnings pop up on my anti virus, as I clicked on some links) designed to show off the power of social media.
Govind has posted his photo on the blog with some multimedia effects. In addition you are also greeted by a background music. You can see stars flashing in the background, the earth revolving on the right side and his eyes blinking in the images on the left side.
On the blog header, you can see his photo with the name ‘Govind Tiwari’. He has also posted some videos on the blog. Interestingly, he has also disabled right click, and it says “Sorry, no right-clicking allowed.”
Govind Tiwari has been one of the top trends on Twitter for much of Tuesday and Wednesday and the the link to his blog has been shared over 12,000 times on Facebook. There is also a Facebook fan page on him.
The gaudy design of his blog attracted so much interest the world over that he exceeded the bandwidth limit on Photobucket, the image hosting service he used to house the images put up on his blog. He seems to have put up as many different multimedia effects he possibly could, making his blog the online equivalent of a freak show.
The social media world has recognized his genius though. With the buzz the topic is getting, experts are chipping in. He could have made over $ 35,000 in Google ad revenues yesterday (over night ) with the traffic he got on his page says this tweet. Someone advises him to join Apple or Microsoft. Plugged.in talks about SEO lessons from Govind Tiwari. His blog is the top result on Google at the moment.
Many are saying whoever created the blog could have made Rs 15 lakh in just a day, thanks to the traffic frenzy that even crashed Photobucket, the site hosting his pictures. I don't believe he has, but then, social media experts have their own estimates.
He claimed he started this blog when he was learning the basics of programming and is still unaware how his website went viral.
"I started getting calls from close friends in Allahabad, who learnt about my website's global popularity. Within minutes my phone was flooded with calls.
By afternoon, the website nearly crashed twice and I had to redirect the server," said the teenager. "All of my friends, relatives and acquaintances were paying me visits," he added.
Tiwari began dabbling different techniques in Photoshop, JAVA and HTML last year.
He created his famous trick of 'blinking the eyes'. A local newspaper carried his story with a picture. "I told my parents that I had posted the website, with my pictures and it was an experiment, which people liked," Tiwari said.
